Howdy and Bonjour from Texas

Message  WHJ58 le Jeu 5 Juil - 11:00

Thank you for establishing this website and forum. It is most informative, in many respects, in regards to traveling in Quebec via truck camper. We also appreciate how kind and respectful the participants are to each other. We have had our truck and Truck camper for about 13 months and have been on the road with it for a total of five months, for ~11.5K miles.
Our system configuration:
2017 Ford F350 6.2L gasoline, SRW, CC, LB, 4X4, 4.30 DIFF
2018 Northern Lite 9-6Q SE
Flat towing a 2017 Jeep Wrangler 4 door with manual transmission.
In the past, we tent camped for about 20 years when on vacations. We are now retired and travel with two dogs, that quickly adapted to the truck camper. We are in the planning stages to travel in Canada, from Ontario to Nova Scotia, with a focus on traveling in Quebec. We can both read French, mostly technical, with some understanding, but we are pretty hopeless when it comes to speaking it and hearing (understanding) it. Google translate is used often, but we realize the anomalies that occur. We went to Montreal and Quebec City a few years ago. It was a positive and fascinating experience.

Thanks to everyone that makes this site/forum so interesting and valuable, and please have a good day,
Bill and Kira Jones

Hi fellow Truck campers. Great to have you join our group. You will have no problem getting around in Canada in english most certainly in big towns. Even in smaller towns and campings were they often get americain tourists. Were are you from?

Hi, we live north of Houston, Texas, near the towns of The Woodlands and Spring. There are very few truck camper (TC) units here. Most of the RV crowd in this five state region has a conventionally pulled travel trailer (TT), or a 5th wheel trailer (5er) or (5W). We only know of one RV dealer in Texas that sells TCs, and they are a long way away near Round Rock, TX. We went to a RV show in Denver, CO, to look at TCs, and later purchased one in Henderson, CO (5 Star RV Center) near DIA airport. We chose the TC system, because we wanted to be able to go on remote and non paved roads. We really like it, because we can boondock for several days and be virtually autonomous and self contained. We recently returned from several weeks out in TX, NM, AZ, UT. We boondocked for about 1/3 of the time, and all went very well.
